Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is known as safety glass. in the event that the glass does become damaged, rather than breaking into dangerous, sharp shards it will shatter into small, square-shaped pieces,so no sharp glass can hurt people.

Description
TEMPERED GLASS(TOUGHENED GLASS)
Tempered glass or toughened glass, is made by heating annealed glass at a temperature of approximately 650 °C(1200°F) and then rapidly cooled by air. This process locks the outer surface of the glass in compression which compression which dramatically increases the glass strength,  is four to five times stronger than standard glass and does not break into sharp large pieces when it breaks and it dissociates into small pieces which is considered a break-safe pattern.
Tempered Glass is a type of safety glass,we can offer all of standard edgeworks such as arrissed / seamed edge (with blank spots),ground edge ,smooth polished edge, bevel edge, dubbed corners.

FEATURES OF TEMPERED GLASS:

  • Bending strength

Tempered glass cut to size has excellent bending strength, which is 4-5 times that ordinary float glass, the bending strength of tempered glass with thickness of 5mm can reach up to 152Mpa.

  • Thermal stability

The thermal stability of tempered glass refers to the properties of the glass subjected to severe temperature changes without being destroyed, tempered glass can withstand temperature changed up to 260-330℃ ,while ordinary glass is only 75-110℃.

  • Safety performance

Tempered glass also has good safety performance, because when the tempered glass is broken, the whole glass has a honeycomb-shaped obtuse angle small particle(as known as glass rain), the particles has no shape corners and have very good safety, the reason is that there is tensile stress in the inner layer of the tempering, when the force is broken, under the pressure protection of the outer layer, the glass becomes a collection of cracks, but it is not easy to be scattered, and the fragments are honeycomb-shaped obtuse-angle small particles.

  • Impact strength

Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than annealed glass of the same size and thickness against impact. Tempered glass has higher thermal strength, and it can withstand high temperature changes up to 250°C.

Tempered glass is considered as a safety glass.
